It's never too late to live
the life you've dreamed of

I am a former Police Officer, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), a Certified Coach Practitioner, and a Grief Recovery Specialist. My passion for life coaching and counselling developed through many years of digging deep and having to learn important lessons the hard way.

In 2012, I experienced a heartbreaking death in my family that opened my eyes to the reality of mortality. Although I’d witnessed hardships, tragedy, and death through my job as a police officer, it never really hit me just how fragile and precious this life is. It was the first time I gained an appreciation for how important it is to do what makes you happy.

Following this experience, I decided to move my career to a bigger city, which, coincidentally, is where I met the love of my life, Nick. At first, I found big city policing to be exciting and rewarding, and it was a financially stable job with endless benefits, but the honeymoon phase soon vanished.

By 2014, I was starting to feel more and more stuck, and I decided to reach out to friends and family for support and advice concerning my career. Despite working hard at policing, loving many parts of the job and being good at it, I knew that it was not my calling, and I was determined to find out what was. As the demands of the job began to wear on me more and more, I knew I needed to make a change.

Together, Nick and I came up with a five-year plan, and we were excited to start the journey to a more abundant life.

Only weeks after crafting our plan, my life changed forever. On February 20, 2016, only months before our wedding, my Nick died suddenly in an Avalanche.

My heart was utterly broken, and my world was falling apart. I was given a life I didn’t ask for and one I could have never prepared for; I truly believed I had only two choices — either I lived, or I didn’t.

It was hard, but I chose to live, and I knew it had to be more than merely existing. I decided to live in a way that was courageous, intentional, and in perfect alignment with my soul.

My counselling and coaching practice is built on the premise that you can truly take control of your own story as long as you have a will to do so. Anything is possible, and undesirable circumstances do not have to destroy nor define you.

It’s become my life’s mission to live on purpose, and I want nothing more than to encourage others to do the same.

My New Normal

This blog, covering a two-year span from March, 2016 to October, 2018, chronicles my personal journey to my new normal. Beginning with my initial thoughts, feelings, and emotions following Nick’s death to the challenges, trials and joy surrounding the birth of my son, this blog helped me through some of the worst and best times in my life, and my hope is that it will do the same for you.
