My Healing Journey – The Power of Reiki, Shamanic Healing, and Spirit

Disclaimer – this entry is for people who are open to holistic treatment, believe in a higher power and the concept of energy healing, or who are willing and ready to learn more about these topics. This is not for everyone, nor does everyone believe in this kind of thing and that is okay.

Yesterday I went to meet with a woman I stumbled upon online who is a certified Usui holy fire II Reiki Master, Shamanic Healer and currently studying clinical hypnotherapy. I came across her earlier in the week when I was researching holistic approaches to anxiety.

I’ve shared recently that my anxiety is something that I battle quite often and although I have found ways that work to manage it, it is sometimes extremely overwhelming. I have been told multiple times over the last two and half years to try Reiki, but I have been hesitant as I have been terrified to allow someone to take me back to a place that they are not equipped to bring me out of. I have read and heard several horror stories of this kind of thing happening with a variety of treatments, and there was no way I was going to trust just anyone. If you have suffered any type of grief or trauma, you will likely understand what I mean by this. I spent 1.5 years doing weekly therapy and although my therapist was a gift from above, there was always a piece missing that I could never figure out.

It takes a lot of work to move forward from grief and trauma, and it’s possible to do so, but it doesn’t always mean you are healed. I am not sure you are ever fully healed from what I am learning, but I thought I was much further than I am.

I felt a deep connection with this woman as soon as I spoke to her on the phone. I didn’t tell her much as I am always super skeptical when it comes to holistic healing and spirit readers. I actually didn’t know she spoke to spirit until after my session, which was a pleasant surprise but very emotional.

I was given messages from Nick and what’s beautiful is he showed her the same thing he showed the medium I went to on February 20, 2017. It’s specific enough for me to know that it’s legitimate and I have no doubt Nick knows that if it was a general comment, I wouldn’t believe it for a second.

After our session she said this, “there are a few things I need to talk to you about and I may need to grab some tissue”. With out knowing anything about Nick previous to him coming through, or his accident, she said, “he was a very lovely guy and he’s telling me you were never able to say a proper goodbye”. It’s a pretty brave statement to make not knowing anything about the details but she asked it and tears rolled down my face from both joy and sadness. Joy because I am so happy to hear from Nick but sadness because I realized, once again, just how much that piece has stuck with me.

I was blown away by what she shared with me but also grateful that Nick is still there helping me move through this journey of grief. I know I am not alone in this and I know Nick is helping more than just me, in ways we will never fully understand.

She was able to take me through a process of healing that was validating and comforting, and when she was finished, she asked me to explain my experience in one word.

My word was relieved.

I was relieved to know that this type of healing works if you are open to it and I was relieved to find out that although I have work to do, I will feel stronger than I already do once the work is completed. I was relieved to know that all this energy and anxiety that I have been experiencing has a place it can go and although it will take lots of learning, the journey will help me grow, even more than I already have thus far.

For anyone who suffers from anxiety, stress, depression, grief, pain, etc., I strongly recommend Usui Reiki, Shamanic Healing, and clinical hypnotherapy. Even if you are just looking for self growth, this may be something that resonates with you.

My experience was phenomenal, so much so I will be completing Usui Reiki Level 1 and 2 and eventually level 3, as I think it would be a perfect fit for the type of therapy I hope to provide in the future. There is nothing I would love more than to be able to help someone experience what I experienced yesterday.

Although I believe anyone can learn and practice Reiki, I also understand that some people are hesitant to see anyone who is not registered and or educated in psychotherapy. If that is the case for you, I have done some research myself and located a few in and around Calgary, including the gal I went to yesterday.

In the coming months, I will likely need individuals to allow me to practice with them what I have learned with the help of my teacher. If you are interested in getting a taste of it, I encourage you to give it some thought and send me a message to [email protected] with any questions, concerns, or ideas you have about it. If however, you are interested in experiencing it sooner than later, I can point you to a few I have found in the area.

I am happy to explain in detail my experience and share some of what I discovered, but I will say this; I believe Reiki and other types of holistic healing are things that people need to come to on their own. I don’t think “convincing” someone they should try it will provide them with the best experience. I have pondered and researched Reiki for a long time, but it wasn’t until recently I honestly felt ready, and I do believe having that readiness is crucial.
